About 100 King
100 King, so named for its prestigious address, sits at the cross-roads of Alexandria's history. The Potomac River flows less than a block from the restaurant's doors. First built to house a corn-exchange building in 1872, 100 King was a hub of business activity in the busy port of Alexandria. The corn-exchange was on the second story - a long hall and handsome gallery with soaring ceilings and tall windows. The building was designed by Benjamin Franklin Price after the Civil War in 1871.
Today, the facade of the building gives way to a contemporary American brasserie. One of the area's finest chefs has developed a menu that, like the restaurant, offers a broad experience from casual to creative French-influenced dining. Situated at the picturesque hub of Old Town, our sidewalk dining provides a casual cafe setting where neighbors often meet. Just inside the doors, a bistro setting and provocative wine bar are often filled with the sounds of live music. But upstairs, the great hall, adorned with glass chandeliers and offering sweeping vistas of the river and town, is a elegant, classic dining room. We wish to entice in every sense with a fantastic atmosphere, thoughtful food, musical ambience and a touch of history to drive the intellect. |
