The Geary Boulevard Mel's drive-in was the second of the "Next Generation" restaurants to open, and it was quick to experience the success of its Lombard street sibling. This Inner Richmond restaurant is unique as it is located on the site where one of the original Mel's operated from 1953-1974. Steven Weiss, current co-owner and son of Mel's namesake Mel Weiss, was a soda jerk there and was meticulous in replicating the details of its design for the present-day incarnation.
