A.P. Stump's writes ... |
Rich in culture and ambiance, A.P. Stump's occupies the ground floor of the striking and historic Masson-Lefranc Building conveniently located in the center of the new Capital of Silicon Valley. The Masson-Lefranc story began more than a century ago, when the Farmers Union sold the western two-thirds of the Santa Clara Street frontage to Charles Lefranc, then considered the valley's father of the commercial wine industry. When others followed suit, including the Pellier, Delmas, Wehner, Novitiate and Cribari wineries, a bright new era was spawn in the sun-kissed valley.
Joining Lefranc, Paul Masson guided the business and its marketing efforts, assuming business control following Lefranc untimely death. Then, near the turn of the century, he introduced the company's first campaign and Saratoga's La Cresta, or vineyard in the sky, a scenic and picturesque Champaign vineyard with cellars in the basement of the same Masson-Lefranc Building. Sparking global attention in 1914, it won the first ever Grand Prix awarded to an American Champaign.
To this day, as you dine at A.P. Stump's Chop House, you can't help but revel in the site's stirring past and timeless ambiance. |
