Local 11 Ten writes ... |
It was in September of 2005 that Chef Keith Latture and partner Reed Dulany began to collaborate on plans of opening a restaurant in Savannah. Their goal was to create a space and a menu that was simple yet refined and honest to both of their sophisticated southern roots. Recognizing the culinary and societal benefits of using local products whenever possible and with a desire to create a space that felt familiar, the name Local 11 Ten was decided upon.
The dream of Local 11 Ten became a reality in April of 2007 when we opened our doors to an overwhelmingly positive response from our hometown community. In many ways Local 11 Ten was the first restaurant of its kind in Savannah. In a city long touted for its historical beauty and traditional Southern cuisine, Local emerged as a bright alternative - giving its guests a new perspective on fine dining in an extraordinary and contemporary setting.
The menu at Local 11 Ten is seasonally driven and continually changes, reflecting the availability of product and Chef Latture’s vision for the given season and day. Chef Latture earnestly strives to showcase our area’s freshest and finest on a daily basis: from Sapelo Island clams and soft-shell crabs caught off our Georgia coast to loquats and figs grown right down the street. While “southern food” often conjures up images of fried chicken and collard greens, Local’s cuisine is in fact Southern by definition, as we cook food grown as close to home as possible. The bounty of our region is diverse and offers substantial considerations for the creative culinary mind. Chef Latture’s training in traditional French culinary techniques and his penchant for Italian cuisine are evident throughout the menu, and this background gives each dish a depth and complexity rarely found.
