Bobby Van was a Long Island piano player and actor who loved to perform and entertain friends at his home in the Hamptons area. The opening of his Bridgehampton restaurant in 1969 attracted musicians, poets, writers, and countless TV, stage and film celebrities. The Hamptons location has long been favored by Manhattanites, among them the rich and famous who have second homes in the tony resort area. Becoming so popular by the 1970's, Bobby Van decided to move the restaurant across the street in order to accommodate more guests. He continued playing his piano and entertaining guests at the Bridgehampton restaurant for over twenty years until he decided to retire in 1992.
