From the reception area, an arched entry with a decoratively painted ceiling leads to 31 West, an 80-seat restaurant with an adjoining 40-seat bar. In this space, banquettes take on the dome-topped shape that is a familiar pattern in Andalucian design and substantial armchairs that are generously spaced for private conversation flank the tables. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus in the restaurant take on a predominantly American slant, drawing from Santa Barbara's fresh seafood, vegetables, produce and specialty foods for bursts of bold flavor.
