upon entering bacar, guests are greeted to a view of the three-story "wine wall" that elegantly displays the vast collection of bottles in a glass-fronted cellar. situated in a renovated brick-and-timber warehouse, bacar was designed by zack/de vito architecture and includes arched windows as well as vertical rooftop windows and skylights that lend a soft, warm illumination to the three-level dining space. tall ceilings in the 150-seat dining rooms that range from 19 to 26 feet contribute to the overall airy design, with a balance of warm woods, colorful fabrics and obscured metals to give the restaurant a comfortable and energetic feeling. a 60-seat subterranean wine salon serves as a chic gathering place for guests to sip their way through the abundant selection of wines - more than 65 by the glass - and dine on small plates from a menu created by robbie lewis. on friday through sunday nights, the wine salon also hosts live jazz bands.
