teven Levine - Executive Chef
Chef Steven Levine, a native New Yorker, brings to The Cosmopolitan nearly two decades of culinary experience. In earning The Cosmopolitan a 3 star food rating from the San Francisco Chronicle, his success is attributed to his work and dedication at renowned restaurants in both New York and California.
His professional experience spans 10 years in New York at the River Café, where he worked under Executive Chef, David Burke and at Aureole with Chef Charlie Palmer. He also worked at the Quilted Giraffe and Zoë in Manhattan. After visiting California many times over the years he and his wife fell in love with the lifestyle and decided to make the move. His most recent job was as Executive Chef at Freestyle in Sonoma, California. Levine's professional experience began in his early teens when he started cooking for his family and realized he loved it! He knew as a young man that cooking was his passion and when the timing was right he took a chance and studied in the 80's at the New York Restaurant School for the Culinary Arts. He has never looked back and his culinary curiosity has kept him on course of continuing his learning through testing new ingredients and innovative dishes combining different cuisines from all over the world and experimenting with the traditional versus modern.
Levine resides in Bernal Heights with his family. He enjoys a low key life of rollerblading, pilates, tantric yoga and spending time with his wife and young daughters when he is not in the kitchen creating culinary treasures.
